About our House
Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House is owned and operated by Kids' Care Oncology Central West Ontario, a charitable organization. The doors to this fifteen room facility opened on April 16, 1993 and has been the host to thousands of families ever since.
The Hamilton House is located next to McMaster Children's Hospital, an internationally recognized hospital for its treatment of neo-natal health cases and juvenile cancer cases.
While staying at the house, each family enjoys a private, uniquely designed bedroom with en-suite bathroom. They also have access to a large, fully-equipped kitchen and no-charge laundry facilities. Lounges and playrooms provide an environment where families are able to meet and share their concerns and feelings with others in similar situations.
The House relies on the support of the community and the wonderful volunteers who help make the House a home. Its Board of Directors consists of volunteer members from business, medical and community backgrounds. Financial support of the business community, foundations and generous individuals is essential for the ongoing house operations.
The Hamilton House serves communities within a wide radius. Some of these areas include: Brant, Haldimand-Norfolk, Niagara, Waterloo, Wellington , Dufferin, Halton and even other provinces and other countries.
Our Core Values
There should be a single decision-making criterion whenever in doubt..."What is in the best interest of the House?"
The "Best Interest of the House" is defined by a number of key determinants:
- Respect - for all stakeholders and the situations/circumstances of the families that we serve
- Responsibility - for our actions, the safety of our families and stewardship of our resources
- Compassion - treat others as we wish to be treated
