The Lloyd Kirkpatrick Memorial Outstanding Student Volunteer Award

Background of Award

The Lloyd Kirkpatrick Memorial Outstanding Student Volunteer Award was funded through a donation from the Rotary Club of Dundas in memory of Lloyd Kirkpatrick, a past Vice President of Ronald McDonald House and past President of the Rotary Club.

The award was established to recognize the volunteer contribution to Ronald McDonald House of an individual who is continuing in his or her studies at the post-secondary level.

Criteria

Candidates must:

1. Be an active volunteer at Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton (i.e. have accrued a minimum of 50 hours in the past year and will be continuing to volunteer in the coming year);
2. Attend or plan to attend full time post-secondary school in the coming year at any recognizable college or university;
3. Maintain a grade point average of B or higher for the majority of his/her academic education;
4. Display a genuine desire to make a difference on the job, at school and in the community;
5. Complete and submit the application by the deadline date;
6. Complete a 500-word essay on how your experience as a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House will enhance your future career opportunities;
7. Comment on other volunteer work in the community, your role(s) at Ronald McDonald House, whether you have recruited other volunteers etc.
8. Granting of the award is conditional upon the successful applicant writing a thank you note to the Rotary Club of Dundas which will be sent by the house along with our correspondence.
