About our Program
Families staying at Ronald McDonald House Hamilton need more than a place to lay their heads while supporting their sick child. Our families need the nourishment of a nutritiously prepared meal to give them the energy and strength they need to be strong for their child.
Our ‘Meals that Heal’ program offers families a home-cooked meal seven nights a week. Our in-house Chef will prepare these dishes with the help of our very special ‘Meals that Heal’ volunteers. Those interested in participating in this program will experience the tangible impact of helping our families directly. You can get involved by gathering a group of friends, co-workers or family and contacting us to set a date. For those who don’t like to cook, our Adopt-a-Meal program may be a perfect option for you.
How to Participate
Groups interested in preparing a meal for our families will choose a date with our ‘Meals that Heal’ staff. Group members will prepare and cook the meal in our new culinary kitchen alongside our Chef. All food and groceries required for the meal will be purchased by Ronald McDonald House Hamilton in advance. The cost to feed our families and participate in this great program is $300. Please note: 100% of every dollar raised for this program goes directly to offset the food cost of the program.
Our Culinary Kitchen can accommodate a maximum of 6 people per group. It will take approximately five hours to complete kitchen orientation, food preparation, cooking, serving, and clean up. During meal time, a full tour of the House will be offered to all Meals that Heal participants as well as an opportunity to sit and enjoy the delicious meal you have created.
For those of you who may not live locally or do not have the time to cook a meal, you can still be part of our ‘Meals that Heal’ program by Adopting-a-Meal. The cost to feed all of our families is estimated at $300 per day. Treat our families to a delicious home-cooked dinner and sign up to Adopt-a-Meal!
